The Centre for Connected and Automated Transport will be holding its National Future Transport Summit in Brisbane on 17 and 18 September 2025. To develop recommendations for submission to Australia’s transport and infrastructure ministers, CCAT has just launched a public consultation process that will be open until 25 July.
The Centre for Connected and Automated Transport (CCAT) will be holding its National Future Transport Summit in Brisbane on 17 and 18 September 2025. The National Future Transport Summit aims at creating a blueprint for the future of Australia’s transport system, maximising the potential of connected and automated transport technologies across all modes of transport. The Summit is expected to involve some 300 delegates at CEO level or their direct reports. The keynote international speaker will be Richard Willder, Uber’s Global Head of Autonomous Policy, and the moderator for the proceedings will be David Speers from the ABC’s Insiders.
CCAT is holding an online briefing for prospective members at 2.00 pm AEST on 9 July. If you would like to attend, please register by emailing [email protected]
In parallel, CCAT has just launched a public consultation process to develop recommendations that are to be debated and agreed at the Summit and ultimately submitted to Australia’s transport and infrastructure ministers. This consultation seeks to capture views on the impacts, challenges and opportunities presented by Australia’s transition to connected and automated transport. The discussion paper and portal for submissions are available here.
For context, CCAT is a collaborative partnership between government, industry, academic and community bodies to champion the implementation of automated transport in Australia and New Zealand. CCAT operates under the auspices of the National Transport Research Organisation (NTRO, formerly known as the Australian Road Research Board – ARRB which was managing the Australian Driverless Vehicle Initiative between 2015-2019 or so).
This matter is managed under the FCAI CCAV working group convened by Richard Delplace, Director Emerging Technologies.
