Discussions around the potential for a free trade agreement between Australia and the European Union are still planned for the coming months following positive statements since the Australian federal election in March.
Both import tariff relief and the Luxury Car Tax are reportedly on the list of topics which are to be discussed in the coming rounds.
The FCAI continues to engage with representatives from both governments to promote the potential benefits to trade and consumers which could come from the removal of both tariffs and the LCT.
There is still a significant amount of work to be done, and there are several high value issues outside of the automotive sector which also need to be addressed as part of these negotiations.
The FCAI will look to keep members aware of any updates through the Members Committee and other relevant forums.
