The FCAI has been undertaking a review of the FCAI Voluntary Code of Practice for Motor Vehicle Advertising.

The FCAI first introduced a Voluntary Code of Practice for Motor Vehicle Advertising in 2002 as a means of industry self-regulating motor vehicle advertising in Australia.  The primary purpose of the FCAI Code is to provide guidance to FCAI members of appropriate standards for the portrayal of images, themes and messages relating to road safety in their advertising.

The FCAI Code applies to all motor vehicle advertisements published or broadcast in Australia by FCAI members.  The FCAI Code is administered by the non-government body Ad Standards (formerly the Advertising Standards Bureau) and complaints are considered by the Ad Standards Community Panel (formerly the Advertising Standards Board) for determination.

The review has now concluded and the updated Code is below.
