Sales of motorcycles and off-highway vehicles have increased by 6.7 per cent so far this year, led by strong growth in the off-road motorcycle segment, according to new data from the Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries.
A total of 68,304 units were sold from January to September 2026, compared with 63,988 during the same period in 2025.
FCAI acting chief executive Dianne O’Hara said the year-to-date result demonstrated the continued popularity of motorcycling across Australia.
“The overall market remains ahead of the same period last year, supported by strong growth in off-road motorcycles. Fun, trail and motocross motorcycles all performed well, highlighting the enduring appeal of recreational riding,” Ms O’Hara said.
“Road motorcycle sales remained stable, while continued growth in scooters reflects their appeal as an efficient and practical transport option for cities.”
The year-to-date result was driven by a 17.1 per cent increase in off-road motorcycle sales and 4.3 per cent growth in scooters, while road motorcycle sales remained steady and off-highway vehicle sales declined by 3.3 per cent.
